Little Toy Guns Jewel felt her own features return Jasmin's grin. She couldn't help it. The woman was just so familiar, so close to her own heart, it was impossible to not be happy seeing her, regardless of the situation. "Hey there." She teased back softly.
Her emerald eyes looked over the woman, remembering the girl she'd once been. Her childhood friend had been changed by the war. She looked much older than 17 but it didn't detract from her beauty. She looked poised, authoritative, and almost commanding. It was definitely a new look for her old friend. Jasmin had grown and changed so much in just a few short years and Jewel found that she was proud of her, although she worried as well.
War was a harsh thing and she had never wanted Jasmin in harm's way. It was a miracle Jewel herself wasn't in battle, although it'd been a mistake as well. She'd resisted the Capitol and they'd taken her babies away. She knew once she got them back that she'd do anything at all to keep them safe again. She'd go back to the war. She didn't say as much to Jasmin though. She didn't want to worry her friend. She'd make sure they assigned her anywhere but Four. She wouldn't meet her friend on a battle field, not again.
Jasmin's thin arms wrapped around her and Jewel hugged her back tightly, everything falling into place. "Good to see you too.." She breathed out softly, hugging her tightly and then smiling when they parted. "I'm really glad you reached out. I'm happy to see you. I've missed you..." She said, smiling down at her old friend.
They'd both changed so much but one thing would never change. They would always be friends. They would always be there for each other. If no one else, she could always count on Jasmin.

Little Toy Guns Jewel's life was sufficiently in shambles. James had been missing only to come back with a pregnant girlfriend and an unexplainable hatred of Jewel. She'd finally given herself into Trigger only for Adalyn to return to them, for which she was happy and grateful. She still loved Addie and she was thrilled to see her safe and home. Not only that but she was pregnant, as well. That had sent everything spinning off into chaos with a very conflicted Trigger and a not so conflicted Jewel. She would never stand in between a family like that.
But to top it all off, her children were still missing. The search for them was all-consuming. She was closer now, so close that she could feel it. She knew her children were just out of reach and she was closing in on them desperately.
So when Jasmin reached out to her, she'd eagerly accepted. She wanted to be with someone who was as familiar to her as her own self. She had no idea what it would be like seeing Jasmin now, they'd both changed so much and it'd been so long. Jewel had been focusing on herself, eating better and training all day, preparing for when she'd reclaim her children. She resembled the Jewel of years ago, although she was older, more graceful, but more skilled. She looked healthier. Her hair was pulled back into a long ponytail, much like she used to wear it all the time. She wore the black training clothes of the Career districts and heeled, black, leather boots. She'd just come from training to meet up with her old friend.
When she caught site of Jasmin, Jewel hurried forward before coming to a stop in front of her, giving her a small smile.
"Hey Min."

Holding Out for a Hero Jewel lay there afterwards, her mind and body comfortably wrapped in a haze of pleasure. She'd never felt so alive and connected to someone before. Her body still tingled from her head to the tips of her toes. Their bodies both coated in a shinning gleam of sweat as she they lay in a tangle of arms and legs. She studied his face, tender expression on her own, a grin splitting out onto her full lips with his chuckle. She tilted her head up to return the kiss he returned for, giving him another one as he tried to pull away. She never wanted this moment to end. It was perfect in every sense of the word, all other cares temporarily forgotten.
She nuzzled against his broad chest, fingertips lightly trailing over his body in small, lazy, circles. She was content to lay here with him, like this. Jewel's lazy smile fell into place, a soft sigh slipping from her lips, head throwing back to lay against the pillow, just relaxing in pleasure, her eyes still set on the features of Trigger's face. She couldn't believe they hadn't done this before. She wanted to do it again already, although that would have to wait. Slowly, thoughts of the rest of the world returned to her. Mainly, her children. She began to think over all the information she'd gathered on the children. She was sure they were being kept deep down inside the Capitol, how deep, she didn't know. What she did know was that she needed to get back in shape. She'd grown weak and she needed to begin eating right, training daily, and growing strong once more to get her children back.
Nestled against him, she pressed a kiss to his wide shoulder, glancing up at his face again. "Trigger... Tomorrow, I need to start working towards Alina and Cas. I need you to train me. I'm not the same woman I was. I'm weak." She murmured to him, her eyes dropping in shame at the revelation. She'd grown so soft. Sure, she was still dangerous, still knew how to fight, but she wasn't as strong or skilled as she had been. Where once, she could have at least matched the best of the Capitols fighters, now they'd cut her right down.
Jewel sighed softly, glancing away from Trigger as she nervously waited for his answer. She burrowed back against him, seeking the warm safety of his large embrace.

Back in Action Jewel was absolutely shocked by his words. Her words stolen right from her lips by the complete untruthfulness of them. Anyone who knew Jewel knew that she lived for her kids. They were her whole life and she loved nothing more than spending all her time with them. Of course, she didn't know that the memory wipe had warped his memories of her, made him forget that she was happy as a mother and adored their children.
"You're sick if you believe any of that." She said softly after a moment. She turned her back on them and began to walk stiffly away, pausing for a moment to glance back at them, emerald eyes turned to Felicity. "I hope you enjoy this time with him. Soon enough, you won't be enough. He'll want more. He'll start partying and doing drugs and if you leave him alone longer than week he’ll be fucking your best friend before you can blink. But heaven forbid, you stay loyal to him for years and the first time you sleep with someone because he’s been missing for SIX months, you’ll be the whore. Hope you and your kid have fun with him while he’s still interested in the little bastard.” She said, her voice icy cold and her gaze scathing. She glanced at James for another moment. “Call if you ever get the whim to visit your children once in a while. I’ll let them know their daddy loves them.” She hissed, turning and stalking away with a deadly grace, feeling worse than she had when she just thought James was dead. That she could deal with. This, she was so angry and disgusted, she couldn’t even believe it. Leave him to his bastard child and his whore, she’d go get their babies back and go home to Trigger.

Holding Out for a Hero Jewel sighed and shivered deliciously at the barest touch from him. It seemed like everything had been building up to this one moment. Her entire life gather on the tip of a pin in the form of this single moment in time. For in this particular blip in time, nothing else mattered but the man gently stroking her leg, gazing at her with lust and love, confessing his deepest feelings for her. Jewel felt a warmth flood through her, removing all thoughts from her already distracted mind. It was hard to pay attention when a naked God was caressing you in the most gentle of manners. He loved her. Of course he did, and yet, she'd never savored such beautiful words before. No other murmured sentence had ever filled her with such a fierce desire before.
"I love you too." She murmured, eyes locked on his, emerald eyes as expressive as ever. "It was always you." She breathed, almost more to herself than to him. She'd loved James, yes, and still did. But it didn't change the fact that she always loved Trigger and always would. This was meant to be, she knew. She'd never felt anything so right in all her life. She wanted this. She needed this.
She needed him to fix her. She needed to fix him. The time for waiting was over.
Jewel slipped her leg out of his gentle caress, wrapping her long and bronzed legs around his waist, pulling him closer to her, pulling him down on top of her. Her legs locked around him, her hips grinding gently up against him. Her fingers ran over his body slowly, following the rise and fall of his muscled arms and sculpted chest. She leaned forward and pressed her lips against his in a kiss deep with need and hunger. Her fingertips trailed lightly up his back once more, knotting into the soft black curls of his hair. She clutched her body to him, feeling completely shielded from the world. He was all she could feel, see, smell, even think of. He was her entire world in that moment. Her teeth tugged at his bottom lip playfully, tongue flicking out to trace the curve of it.
She rubbed herself against him, every inch of his body muscled and unyielding as she caressed, teased, touched, and kissed every part of him that she could. She loved him and she wanted to love him in any way that she could. They'd been through so much together but not enough. This was what they both needed, to admit their love, to be able to express it, and to heal each other.

Back in Action Jewel glared after Felicity as she watched the woman cower behind James, trembling it seemed. How pathetic, a nasty little voice in her head sneered. Jewel felt her stomach rolling, completely sickened. She'd been happy that he'd been alive but when she was that he was with someone else who was obviously several months pregnant, something snapped inside Jewel. Sure, she was sleeping with Trigger, but James had been missing for six months and she'd only been with him the last couple of week. How long had James been fucking this whore?
Her lip curled in disgust and she glared down at James, all feelings of guilt and remorse she'd felt for sleeping with Trigger the past couple of weeks were gone. "You sick son of a bitch... I WAS WAITING FOR YOU AT HOME WITH YOUR KIDS!!! DO YOU REMEMBER THEM?! ALINA AND CAS, WAITING FOR THEIR FATHER TO COME HOME." She screamed into his face, taking a few quick steps toward him so they were almost eye level. "You think because I was fucking Trigger that that makes this okay? Yeah, I've been sleeping with him. I waited for five months for you though. You were fucking my best friend a month after I disappeared last time, leaving Alina alone to go get high and drunk, you piece of shit." She hissed at him, emerald eyes alive with an angry green fire, voice deadly calm and brimming with anger. "And before that you had your little teenage slut practically moved into the house when I came back home. And this time you go missing, knock a girl up, what?" She paused here to take in Felicity again. "Four months ago?!" That was on the low end. She was AT LEAST four months pregnant, more likely to be five or six though. "So yeah, after a few suicide attempts I realized I was being selfish. I had to live for our kids. I started to move on with my life and yeah, the kids needed a father who was actually going to BE there for them. You weren't there and he was. That doesn't excuse this-" She sneered, gesturing towards the cowering red head huddled behind her husband - ex - husband. "You piece of shit." She repeated, hand raising and balling into a fist, striking out at his face with the speed and accuracy of a snake. She wasn't some cowering little bitch, she wasn't going to slap him. She was going to full on right hook him. The same right hook that had put Hunter, Alex, and a variety of other men out cold. She hoped to see him crumple on the ground in front of her and then she'd ring the neck of his pretty little whore.
She didn't mention the kids to him. He didn't deserve to know. He didn't want to come and even check in on them, then she wasn't going to tell him anything. She'd get them back by herself.

Back in Action. Jewel had left Trigger behind in the Capitol, traveling through the districts. They were gaining more intel on where the kids were being held every day but none of it was good. It was looking more and more like the kids were wrapped up tightly within the Capitol somewhere, deep inside and surrounded by enemies. Jewel was going through all her contacts now which was what had brought her stepping off the platform in Four. Her kids were all she thought about anymore. She'd had a few months to deal with James's disappearance and pull herself out of the depression that had consumed her and lead to a suicide attempt. Now, she was determined to find her children.
What she saw in Four, she was not prepared for. She stepped off the train and was confronted with the sight of her dead husband holding the hand of some red head. "... James?" Even to herself, her voice sounded strangled, she felt tears welling up in her eyes. Suddenly she was flooded with a mixture of powerful emotions. She felt confusion, anger, pain, regret, guilt, but most of all, she felt happiness. She didn't really care what he was doing at that moment, she was just overwhelmed that he was even breathing. When he turned to face her though his eyes were cold and his voice was hard. His words hit her like a slap in the face, features falling, taking an unconscious step back. "Actually, it's Carver still." She responded, glancing down at her hand where her wedding ring still rested. She wasn't ready to take her ring off and move on just yet. She'd always loved Trigger but that didn't change the fact that she also loved James, probably always would. He was her husband for years, the devoted father to her children. She glanced down at his hand, immediately noticing his missing ring. That stung. "Or it was..." She murmured, her eyes moved to the woman then, taking in the gradual bump of her stomach. Her eyes flew back to James, refusing to believe that he just up and left her and the kids those six months ago.
"James.. Where have you been?! You've been gone for six months!"

Back in Action Felicity began shutting all the systems down, nodding at his question although he couldn't see her. "Yup, all done. All memories of your ex should be wiped." She said happily, turning away from the desk and back towards him. He was standing in front of her before she's even turned all the way around. She was a short woman, delicate but curvy, and James dwarfed her. His muscular arms enveloped her tightly, giving her a warm hug. Despite herself, she felt a warmth spread through her body and she returned the hug with a warm smile, cheeks blushing red.
"I was only trying to help. You deserve to be happy, James. Now, we should leave. My pass card should be expiring at any time. And the train to Eleven should be here. Let's go!" She said happily, taking his large hand in hers and leading him back out the door and to the train station.

Holding Out for a Hero Jewel felt herself being washed away with the tide of strong feelings that flooded through her with his every touch. His hand pressed against her back, his fingers knotted in her hair, and her body pressed against his with a desperate need. Her fingers ran lightly up his body, exploring as she brushed her way up his muscular arms, lightly across his strong shoulders, up the back of his neck before knotting into his hair. She pressed herself against him, pressing closer to him as her lips moved on his with a feverish want. His moans were all she heard, his touch all she felt. When he tilted her head back and lips landed against her the sensitive flesh of her neck, soft sighs slipped from her between her lips, shivers rolling through her body at the promise of more. Only his boxers separated the two of them but it was far too much for her. She wanted to be with him, she needed to feel him as close as two people could be, merged mind, body, and soul. When he began ushering her back into her room, the thought of resisting didn't even cross her mind. There was just something so right and natural about being locked in his arms, desire coursing between them so thick it was palpable. She took advantage of the moment, pausing for a moment under his flurry of attacks to hook a finger under the hem of his boxers, pulling the flimsy material down to the floor in a smooth motion. The sight of Trigger Mason standing in front of her, gorgeous and imposing, was enough to steal her breath away. Fierce desire swept through her once again and she straightened, pressing her body back against his, soft flesh rubbing against his hardened skin. It was as if she'd been waiting for this moment her whole life. Every awkward encounter, every almost-kiss as teenagers, every tear-filled moment, every fight, all lead to this. Jewel smirked, in this moment she was every bit as confident and beautiful as she'd ever been. There was nothing to doubt here. She was with Trigger after all, her Trigger. She caught his bottom lip playfully between her teeth, tongue running along it with a teasing tug. She separated from him, falling backwards onto the bed, cheeks flushed from desire as she gazed up at him, emerald fire lit within her eyes for the first time in a year. She propped herself up on her elbows, biting her own lip now as she looked him over, blonde hair cascading over her shoulders and breasts. Her foot lifted, leg long and shapely, and pressed it against his hard abs, stopping him from joining her on the bed while presenting a very inviting site for him. "Do you love me, Trigger Mason?" She murmured breathlessly, eyes intent on him. She needed to know. She knew how she felt about him but she wanted to hear him say the words. She needed to hear the words. Holding Out for a Hero Jewel heard his heavy footsteps coming up from behind her. She knew she'd scared him from the way he'd come bursting into the room. He must have heard her scream. She felt guilty for that but she couldn't deny that she was happy and relieved to see him. She had nightmares every night that she was alone. Dreams that haunted her both awake and asleep, demons that grew within herself.
She turned towards the man, breath leaving her when she felt his warm touch against her skin. Emerald eyes gazed upwards, tracing the planes of his face. Was this how it was meant to be? The two of them depending on each other when they could depend on no one else, holding up the other, building each other up into some semblance of a human again? She couldn't be sure, but she felt as if it was. They were meant for each other, it seemed.
The world had always meant to break Jewel Orsino, but at least it'd given her Trigger to piece her back together again.
Jewel. The plead rung in her ears, his voice deep and husky with emotion. The rawness of it sent her heart beating like a caged dove, stealing away any chance she had of catching her breath. She stared into his dark eyes, unable to say anything in response, her voice abandoning her in this moment she thought would never come. They'd always danced around each other it seemed. One circling the other, sometimes coming close enough to give the other hope enough to reach out. They'd always been objects of desire to the other, always just out of reach. But it seemed their dance was at an end. Could this really be happening?
Let me fix it. His voice washed over her, emerald eyes closing. They were two broken beings cut from the same cloth, let me fix it. Yes, she felt her whole being react, yearning for that, flesh tingling and hair raising. And let me fix you.
Jewel leaned forward, sheet dropping away from her body like a white veil, flesh pressing against his. On tiptoes, she leaned forward, eyes still closed, and pressed her full lips against his in a soft, questioning, manner.
And with that motion, all doubts were forgotten. Only her and Trigger existed in that moment.

Losing Him Was Blue Jewel was in Seven, searching for some sign of her children. Their trail apparently went right through the District but Jewel could find no signs of them or anyone else she knew. She was tired, she was exhausted, but she wasn't going to give up on them. She knew they were alive still and that was enough for her. She'd find Alina and Castiel and then her life could go back to some semblance of normal.
With James's death looming over her, of course her life would never be normal again. But at least her children were a source of happiness for her, a reason to continue to live on. She was determined to find them, no matter the cost to herself. That much was obvious. She'd once been beautiful but now she just looked weary and world-worn. Her hair was listless were it'd once shone like true gold. Her eyes were dull and dark instead of sparkling emeralds. Her skin was pale and stretched tight over her tired body where once her tanned skin had glowed in the sun. She was every bit the opposite of the bronzed, long-legged Amazonian goddess she'd once been. Opposite of it in every way possible.
Deciding to continue her search in another District, Jewel was making her way back to the train station when a hunched over figure in the crowd with a swollen belly caught her attention. She soon realized the woman was very pregnant and in some kind of pain, obviously. A Jewel of another time wouldn't have even noticed but this Jewel, a mother who had lost her children, couldn't walk away. Besides, the woman looked somewhat familiar. She couldn't put a name to her face or anything though.
"Hey," She called, pushing past the crowd to reach the woman in the middle. "Are you okay?? Do you need any help??" She asked, concern in her voice. She reached out for the woman but stopped just before her hand actually touched her arm. She couldn't say how the woman would react to the touch. Better safe than sorry, after all. Jewel chewed on her lip, nervously waiting for the woman to straight up and reply.

Holding Out for a Hero Jewel's head was spinning and she couldn't quite make up from down or left from right. It was like her life had taken her and threw her into some other life that she didn't quite understand. She had no idea what she was going to do without James, she had no idea where her life was going from here. Her only solace was that she was sure Trigger would be going there with her. Perhaps this was how their lives were supposed to play out. She'd done a lot in her life that she regretted, things she'd go back and change if she could. Then there were things that maybe weren't the decisions she was supposed to make but she'd never change, like James. He'd given her two beautiful children and she was more determined than ever to get them back somehow.
She almost opened her mouth, as if to argue with him but the gentleness of his words stopped her. Jewel decided to trust him, just quietly nodding her head instead.
As soon as they stepped into the house, Trigger's mother appeared, fawning over Jewel with her beautifully aged features. In her daze, Jewel almost didn't notice what Trigger was saying. When his words made it through to her, her head snapped up and she stared at him, eyes widened and mouth forming a little "o." She didn't understand why he was switching up the story, making himself out to be the victim instead of her hero. She glanced down away from him, emerald pools brimming with tears which she quickly blinked away. She was done crying. She'd been doing it far too much lately.
Trigger's mother finished taking care of her leg and Jewel found that she was exhausted. She was forced into a bed and was passed out from pure exhaustion before she even realized what was really happening. She slept for a while before waking up in a cold sweat, heart pounding and a scream on her lips. She still had nightmares of the Capitol torture she was forced to endure sometimes. She sighed heavily and stood, testing out her injured limb which was feeling much more sturdy already. Peeling off her damp and dirty clothing, she wrapped the light sheet from her bed around herself and stepped out on the cool balcony, the silver moon bright and shinning above her. She closed her emerald eyes and sighed softly again, feeling the cool air rush over her, cooling her down from her nightmare.
Jewel clutched the white sheet in one hand, the whiteness of the sheet combined with her pale skin and golden hair made it seem as though she was almost glowing. The moonlight washed over her skin, hiding the bruises that covered her body, the bags under her eyes, the gauntness of her cheeks. The silver light took her back years, making her look like the strong and beautiful goddess she'd once believed herself to be.

Post by Jewel Carver on Jul 4, 2015 21:15:34 GMT
Holding Out for a Hero Jewel glanced up at Trigger as he stood, although that wasn't entirely accurate. She'd never taken her eyes off of him. Her throat went dry as he reached for and she had to stop herself from trying to move away from him. This had never been their relationship. She had never been cradled in his arms like this but she couldn't deny how safe and comfortable it made her. She almost didn't trust her reaction to his touch at that moment, vulnerable as she was, and she had to stop herself from nuzzling against the warmth of his broad chest. She'd never felt so small and delicate, so protected.
Her reactions troubled her and she stayed stock still in his embrace, swallowing past the lump that had formed in her throat. She glanced up at him as he talked, her emerald eyes, more listless than they had ever been, nodding silently in his arms. She wasn't sure exactly where "home" was. It could be a multitude of places. His apartment, her apartment, his family's home, her family's home. Anywhere, really. He didn't say anything more and that was almost fitting. There had been so many things left unsaid and so many untrue things said.
But as they walked an all too familiar route, she suddenly became aware of where they were headed. She'd walked this road before, on business and personal visits, so long ago now that it seemed almost like a different life. They were headed to the family home of the Mason's. Jewel felt her stomach knot slightly. She didn't want to face Trigger's family, especially his father, like this. She wasn't comfortable being so vulnerable in front of anyone except Trigger. She didn't want anyone else to see her in her weak state. With Trigger, she'd become set on regaining her former glory and finding her children. She'd already become determined to start training and practicing tomorrow, eating healthy and getting back in shape so she could do whatever she had to get her children back. Trigger had given her that resolve and she didn't want to embarrass him in front of his family.
So when the house suddenly loomed in front of them, she tugged lightly on his shirt, drawing his attention downward.
"Let me walk in, please. Your family, I don't want them to see this..." She breathed out, deep green pools dropping downwards in shame. All of this was almost too much, Jewel didn't know if she could take being carried in by Trigger in this state. His family would lose all the respect they'd ever had for her in one short moment. She glanced up slowly at his face again, almost afraid to see the reaction to her words. She wasn't sure but she felt as though she'd disappointed him as well. Actually, she was pretty sure she had. She didn't want him to see any more of her shame.

Holding Out for a Hero Jewel watched as her touched seemed to snap something in the large man. To her overwhelming relief, he didn't push her away or get angry with her. Instead he seemed almost to melt into her. It truly was like it had been years before in their teen years.
Encouraged, Jewel wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug, craving the comfort of touch just as much as she wanted to give it to him. She was no delicate girl, standing well taller than most men with a lithe and muscled body, but she'd forgotten how he dwarfed her when they were together like this. Compared to most men, she was an amazon, but she was nearly engulfed by the crumbling mountain of a man before her.
"Shh, I'm here. I know I'm the last person you want by your side right now but I promise I'll be here. We've got a long and hard road ahead of us but I know that we can do this. Just like we used." She promised to him, tilting her head to try and look at him in the eyes. She couldn't bring herself to truly smile at him although she tried. She hadn't truly smiled except in front of her kids since James had died. She'd gone through all the steps. She'd been in denial, angry, hurt, sad, depressed, and then empty. The only thing that had kept her on her feet had been her kids but now looking at Trigger, she realized how selfish she had been being. Her life wasn't over because James's was. She had to live for their children, her niece and nephew, her brother and his unborn kid, and she had to live for Trigger, because if she didn't... who would?
Looking up at him, she could tell now that he needed someone as much as she needed him. At that moment, she decided that she'd be there for him through this. "Come on, Trigger. We should get out of here..." She started to get up and for the first time felt a twinge in her leg. She gasped quietly as her leg didn't seem to want to support her weight and buckled. Red and sticky liquid covered the calf of her left leg. It seemed that when Trigger had tackled her out of her haze, literally, that she'd landed against a rugged rock, splitting the flesh of her leg.
She cleared her throat lightly, "I'm- uh, gonna need your help.." She murmured, slightly embarrassed. She hadn't really been eating or sleeping well recently and her body was weak already. Her leg wasn't going to be supporting her anytime soon.

Holding Out for a Hero Jewel was shocked out of her silence by the sheer anger she saw in him. She could feel his muscular body tensed just above hers but she couldn’t bring herself to even look up at him. Shame coursed through her body, leaving her feeling weak and alone. James was dead, of that she was sure. But it was true that she still had Damien, Trigger, her niece and nephew, and there was a chance she could find her children, if they were still alive. She had been doing fine until they’d taken her kids. That had been it for her. How was she supposed to continue on, completely alone? Trigger at least had his children still.
She trembled beneath him, adding more to her shame. There was once a time when she had never been afraid of anyone. But it wasn’t his anger that she was afraid of, it was his hatred and scorn. She simply couldn’t take it. She squeezed her eyes shut tightly, warm tears leaking out of the corners. His words cut into her already broken self, easily cutting past the crumbled shield that had once kept her strong. She was tired of being the strong one, of carrying everyone else. She simply couldn't do it anymore. She needed someone like she had never needed them before. She needed someone like Trigger had needed someone when Jewel showed him what love was. It was funny how they'd come so far, become so different.
Her voice was soft, undeniably broken, "You're right... I'm broken, empty, alone. The shell of a woman I once was. That's what happens when you put your faith in the wrong person..." She trailed off, pain coursing through her body with every word that left his lips. It was unbearable, to have him of all people think so lowly of her. She knew that there was nothing to do for it though. He had hated her for so long, nothing would change now.
She cringed away from the shame she felt, feeling his lips brushing against her exposed ear. The motion was oddly comforting in the situation they were in and it gave her a moment to think past her own fear and self loathing. His next words were spoken in a voice thick with emotions. Hatred, definitely, but something else there as well, under the words. She knew Trigger, even after all this time. She would always know him and for some reason, the angry tone gave her hope. She couldn't say why, there was just something about it that let her know everything would work out. He wouldn't leave her on her own, not after everything. She felt the oddly gentle motion, the soft nuzzling of flesh against her cheek, bringing her further out of her shell-shock. She tilted her head to look up into his dark features, breath catching in her throat for a long moment.
"It wasn't any of that. Trigger, you've never scared me, try as hard as you have, and I've always loved you. And you're more stupid than I was back then if you think you were ever a back up plan." Her voice was still soft, tears trickling down her cheeks. She wanted to reach up and brush them away. She hated how weak she looked in front of him. It was always you, her broken mind screamed at him. But she didn't say anything, she couldn't. There were no words that would turn back time and make things right between them. She knew that there was no going back with them. She'd broken things between them and now there was no way they could ever repair them.
And then things were falling apart rapidly, her heart breaking with every breath he drew, and then every breath he drew was a sob. He fell back, well away from her and Jewel sat up slowly, all thoughts of herself forgotten. This was her Trigger. The insecure and vulnerable sobbing boy she'd fallen in love with back in the Capitol as teenagers together. It was like all the years between then and now had fallen away and Jewel knew what she had to do. She moved slowly closer to him and then reached out to him with a shaky hand. She hesitated for a moment and then gently stroked his hair. And she was the Jewel of years ago, wanting to take away his pain and comfort him.
"Trigger, it's okay. We'll get through this. I promise... I'm sorry. You'll be okay though. You're strong enough for this. You're stronger than me. You always have been..." She murmured, trying to be comforting. "I promise."
