Damion shrugged. "I don't know," he said. "Got any message you're dying to get to the President or anybody really?" Damion hated letting a good murder go to waste. They had to do something with the body to make it worthwhile, right? At least, that's how Damion saw it. He had plenty of things that he would love to say to the President, but none of them would be solved by sticking them to a dead body, so he hoped that Hunter had some kind of idea.

Miles looked at Sebastian with a puzzled look on his face. "What?" he asked quickly, nervous about what Sebastian was about to tell him. Had something else happened? What else had he hid from him? Part of Miles felt like he couldn't trust Sebastian anymore, and that was a horrible feeling.

Miles couldn't look at Sebastian as he spoke. The sheer thought of losing him was too much for Miles to bear. "I'm just glad you're home," he said quietly, staring at the ceiling. What else could he say? He didn't know. Part of him was still mad that Sebastian didn't tell him that he was hurt, but he hated being mad at him. They rarely ever fought, and when they did, it wasn't about anything that really mattered.

Miles was in the shower while Sebastian tucked Ana into bed. Then he went to the bedroom, and he sighed at Sebastian's comment. "I was terrified too. Not really in the way you were, obviously. I was just scared that I would lose you," he said honestly, but he was pretty sure that Sebastian already knew that. He lied down in the bed next to Sebastian and curled up into him. They hadn't been in the same bed together for a year, and it felt so good to have him back.

Mils sighed, unsure of how to react. "I just...I'm just surprised, I guess," he said, staring at the floor. Miles didn't want to be mad at Sebastian, but part of him felt betrayed that he hadn't told him earlier. "At least you're okay now," he said, trying to smile.

Miles followed Sebastian outside, his stomach in his throat as he waited for Sebastian to explain himself. He felt like he was going to be sick when he saw the prosthetic where Sebastian's leg should have been. "Oh my God," he said. "Are you okay? What happened? Why didn't you tell me?" He would have said more, but the questions racing around his head couldn't make it out of his mouth that quickly.

Miles felt a pain in his chest when he noticed Sebastian limping. Was he hurt? Did he lie to him about something? Miles sat down next to Sebastian, a concerned look on his face. "You're limping...?" he said quietly, not wanting to make a huge deal about it. For all he knew, he was just a little sore. Miles imagined that he would be sore too after a year in the military.

Miles just smiled and threw his arms around Sebastian. "I love you so much," he said in his ear. He felt happier than he had in a long time, though without Sebastian there he'd fallen into some sort of depression. But now he felt free again. A fear poked in the back of his head though. Why was he back so soon? Did something happen? But that didn't matter now. He was here.

Miles was sitting among a group of other little girls as Ana opened her presents. He held up a video camera, filming it so that he could make a video for Sebastian. It hurt him that he wasn't there, but he understood that it was out of his control. But when a deep voice broke through the noise of high squeals and giggles, Miles spun around to see him standing there in the doorway. He almost didn't believe it at first. He thought that he must have been dreaming, but then he decided that it was real.
Ana jumped up and ran towards her father, hugging him tightly. Miles put down the camera and followed her quickly. He could feel tears pricking at his eyes, but they were happy tears.

Miles was a little confused about what the little girl was talking about, but he decided it was better not to ask. He just stood up and let the girls continue their conversation as he introduced himself to Elena's mother. "I'm Miles, by the way," he said. "As you probably figured out, that little blondie is my daughter." Miles wasn't big on making new friends, but this seemed like a good enough opportunity.

Ana shook her head. "I just have two daddies. Well, then I have Carter and Dalton who are kind of like mommy and daddy, but not really. Oh and I'm four. Not and a half." Ana smiled and looked at her father, who just grinned at her. Miles wished that life was as simple as Ana and Elena saw it. Everyone was nice and safe and nothing could ever go wrong.

Miles chuckled again, but then Ana ran up to them. "Daddy, did you make a friend?" she said enthusiastically. "Hi, I'm Ana! That's my daddy! Is that your mommy? I don't have a mommy. Well, not really." Ana smiled at Elena, remembering what her father's said about stopping to let others speak every once in a while. Miles laughed at how excited the two girls were.

Miles looked up when he heard a someone running towards her. Lowering his book from his face, he figured it was Ana, but was surprised when he saw a brunette little girl standing in front of him. He smiled at her, laughing a little at how outgoing she was. Ana was the same way. "Hi Elena. I'm Miles and I'm twenty-three," he said with a smile, then he noticed someone coming over to them, who he could only assume was Elena's mother. He chuckled a little, and shook his head at her apology. "It's completely fine. Mine's the same way. She's always chatting up a storm," he said.

The last few days had been increasingly more difficult for Miles. Every morning he woke up and rolled over expecting to see his husband lying there with him, but then was hit with the realization that he was gone. Every time he thought about it, he wanted to just crumple up and stay that way until Sebastian returned. But of course, that wasn't an option. He had a daughter and a job to worry about. But he spent more time worrying about Sebastian than anything else. Every time the phone rang, he was terrified that it would be someone calling to say that Sebastian was dead. Miles didn't know how to deal with it all.
Today he decided to try and distract himself. Ana wanted to go to the park, so he took her. Once he got there, he watched Ana run around with the other kids at the park, and it made him a little happier. Seeing Ana so happy had an effect on him that he couldn't quite explain. He was just happier with her happy. Miles then decided to read a book, but he still kept an eye on Ana too.

Miles groaned a little, then just put his head in his hands. He hated fighting with Sebastian, but he wasn't going to change his mind on joining the military. Maybe if they didn't have Ana, but they did.
