Home at last. The President had practically forced her to have her baby in the Capitol since it was 'good publicity'. After all, everyone loved a good tragedy, right? What better thing to celebrate than the birth of a child with a murderer for a mother and corpse for a father? Crimson thought it was sickening. But when she saw her son's eyes, none of the Capitol's bullshit mattered.
"What's his name?" the nurse had asked her.
"Flax," she said. "Flax Strider." He was named after his father. The father that had died in her arms while she stayed there helplessly sobbing. The memory flashed back to her every time she closed her eyes.
But now she could escape all of the cameras and reporters, and just relax. Well, relax as much as she could with a two week old baby to take care of. She'd just gotten off of the train, Flax curled up in her arms, and she was about to begin walking home when someone walked into her back. She spun around, ready to spit some rude comment at them before she caught herself. She was moody and tired, but she wasn't going to be rude because of it. "I'm sorry," she said quickly.

Rena was walking around her old district feeling like complete crappie still. She then ran into someone she wasn't expecting it to be crimson...She had pretty much ignored her every though she knew that she had flax ' s child. She stared at Crimson not sure what to even say she looked like a deer caught in headlights.

"You okay there?" she asked, unsure why the girl looked so shocked to see her. It occurred to her that maybe she was starstruck or something, but Crimson tried not to assume things like that. She hated her fame almost as much as she hated how she had obtained it.

" You...you dated my brother...you volunteered for me." Rena said quietly. She looked at Crimson and then at the baby. That was her nephew the only thing left of flax and still Rena was too scared to even talk to the girl in front of her.

"Oh my god," Crimson said quietly. There they were. Those same doe eyes that Crimson just couldn't let die. The ones she volunteered for. "Rena. I'm...I'm so sorry about your brother." Crimson suddenly felt extremely uncomfortable, unsure of what she should say or do.

"It's-it's okay." Rena said quietly. She looked down at the ground and pushed some hair behind her ear. She hasn't meant to feel this awkward. Maybe if she had just went to district eight and hoped to see crimson things would've been better but no she has been completely avoiding crimson afraid to have an memory of flax's death back.
She looked downAt the baby boy he was so previous and adorable. "Is that yours and flax's baby?" Rena asked although it had to be considering she was pregnant while in the games and wouldn't if had time to get pregnant again that fast so essentially the question was a really stupid question which had no meaning because that was flax's child. She didnt want to feel these feelings part of her wanted to cry while the other half just wanted to run away home to her dad.

Crimson nodded. "You don't watch much tv, do you?" she said before realizing it was slightly insensitive. She'd just had so many cameras in her face for the last two weeks that it was hard to think that there was anyone in Panem who didn't know about her baby. "I named him after his father." Crimson hoped that maybe that might make Rena happy, but it had potential to just make her sadder.

"I stopped watching after Flax died." Rena would just walk out if anyone was playing something that had to do with the games she couldn't deal with it at all. She looked over at the baby and smiled a little. "He's adorable." Rena said. She never saw flax as a start a family type but he had on accident.

Crimson smiled down at her son. "He's the happiest baby I've ever seen," she said. Crimson had never wanted to be a mother, but now she loved her son more than anyone in the world. He was her world now. Something told her that even if the Games had never happened, somehow she and Flax would have gotten together and started a family together, even if neither of them had actually wanted children. They didn't know each other for very long, but there was no doubt in Crimson's mind that she was in love with Flax. "Do you, um, want to come to my place for dinner or something?" she asked. "I'd love to talk to you more."

Rena stuck her hands in her pocket and began thinking but then she looked at flax and decides she wanted to. She nodded shyly at crimson. She wanted to get to know crimson more she wanted what ever memories she could get left of Flax.

Crimson smiled slightly. "Great," she said. Flax then giggled in her arms, and she smiled at him. "I wish I'd contacted you sooner. I don't know why I hadn't thought of it. I've just been kind of busy and out of it lately." Crimson felt bad for not reaching out to Rena, considering she was the only family of Flax's that she knew about. But with going back and forth to the Capitol, it never even crossed her mind.

Rena smiled at Crimson. "Can I hold him?" Rena asked honestly not sure where her post of confidence cake from. She just smiled lightly at her not sure what else to say.

Crimson hesitated. It wasn't that she didn't trust Rena, it's that she was naturally overprotective of her son. She'd spent the past two weeks terrified that someone would try to take him from her. But this wasn't someone trying to take her baby for political gain. This was just a young girl trying to hold on to whatever she had left of her fallen brother. So Crimson nodded. "Of course," she said, handing the baby off to Rena. "He looks like his daddy." Every time she saw the little baby smile, she caught a glimpse of Flax with it.

Rena stared at the baby and then felt a year roll down her cheek he had Flax's eyes and it reminded her too much of him. She handed him back to crimson and stared awkwardly at the ground.

Crimson noticed the girl's tears, and she could almost feel her heart breaking for her. Crimson had never had anyone to call family, but even in the short time that she'd spent with Flax she could tell how much the two of them cared for each other. "You know, your brother really missed you while we were in the Capitol. He hardly ever stopped talking about you," she said, unsure of whether or not it was best to bring up memories of Rena's brother to her or not.
