Living alone was not meant for some people. Avalon had come to this conclusion after realizing that she couldn't stay in her house by herself for more than an hour at a time unless she had a guest or she was sleeping. She was just the kind of person who couldn't stand to be alone. Sure, she had a dog to keep her company, but Avalon needed actual human interaction. Otherwise she was going to end up going stir crazy.
Today was no exception to this. She'd gotten home from work, gone home, eaten dinner, and then she decided to go out for a walk with Nugget. Sure, walking around mostly empty streets didn't offer a whole lot of social opportunities, but at least it got her out of the house. The little white pup trotted along beside her, thankful for the exercise and fresh air. It wasn't unusual for Avalon to run into friends while she was out walking Nugget, but what Avalon hadn't expected was to be running into this particular friend.
A dark haired man stood up ahead of her. She'd only ever met him once when Amy had destroyed her car, but she had to admit that she'd taken a liking to the man. He was much more interesting than the normal crowd around Five, and Avalon always loved anything or anyone that was different. "Hey stranger," she called to him, a smirk sneaking through on her face. She wasn't sure if he would actually remember her, but it was worth a shot.

District Five. Hale still hated it. It was still his least favorite District (narrowly beating District Seven purely just because the streets somehow managed to look a lot more boring than the wood huts of Seven, even if Hale was fairly sure he could imagine burning most of them down just because he could... Not that he ever would, he wasn't that much of a douche). Still, it was slowly becoming the place where he ended up with the most contracts, it turns out there were a lot of people in five that others wanted dead. Crazy, right? Hale didn't care. At the end of the day, money was money, and that was really the only reason he did what he did (and he was good at it, but that was besides the point). What he hadn't expected, was to bump into the only person he actually didn't hate in Five - Avalon. Turning his head to look at her as she spoke, he couldn't help but throw her a lazy grin, raising an eyebrow at her before slowly replying, "stranger? And there I was thinking we were the best of friends..."

A smirk crept onto Avalon's face. "Oh don't flatter yourself," she said. But she really was glad to see him, though she had to wonder why it was he was there. Last time they'd met he made it quite clear how much he hated their little district. "So, what brings you to this hellhole?" Avalon wasn't the biggest fan of Five either, but it was home. And it wasn't like she had any opportunity to go anywhere else even if she wanted to. She was stuck there, at least for now. Imagining living anywhere else was a challenge for her, which led her to believe that she would never escape.
