Alex stood, toes in the sand as the wind whipped her long brown hair around. Though it wasn't cold the sun still felt nice against her skin, and the sound of Landon's giggles were enough to melt her heart. The little brown haired boy squealed in delight as the water washed over his little toes, days like today made Alex realize how much she missed Chris and Kenzie.
"Momma come play." Landon hollered, his voice carrying well for a three year old. Her long legs carried her to the water fairly quick as she scooped up the little boy, fingers attack his side as she tickled him. Laughs coming from both of them echoing across the beach, she'd not quite understand how one little boy could bring so much happiness to her life. Though it didn't hurt that he was part of Chris, the only thing that brought her happiness what felt like forever ago.
Though recently she'd met a guy who seemed to be genuinely good, and caring. She liked Porter.
Speaking of she'd turned her head slightly towards the entrance of the beach to see a familiar figure, a smile involuntarily forming on her lips. Placing Landon on her hip she gets out of the water and heads over to him. "Fancy seeing you here." She says softly, genuine happiness in her voice.

"Duke!" A shrill voice screeched. Odd for a man of twenty-four to have such a high pitched tone, but for Porter? It was common. With this pooch his siblings had brought home for him to care for, his stress level was beyond high, his voice following. That aside, the reason he was yelling was because his horse of a dog had taken off.
Again.
The moment the door to the house cracked open, the mutt bolted. A mix of German Shepherd and Leonberger made the male mutt nearly Porter's height when he stood on his hind legs, making him impossible to handle.
Great, right?
So, racing after the canine, Porter found himself racing towards the beach, and just before Duke made it to the entrance, he leapt out and caught him. Snagging up the leash, he sighed, shaking his head as he lead the dog to the shoreline to complete the walk they were meant to take, but that was interrupted by a small voice cooing in his ears.
Something so simple made his head jerk and ears perk up.
Alex.
Taking a detour, Porter led his pet towards the girl and what he assumed was her kid. Despite the dog's size, he was utterly harmless and just a big baby, really, so he didn't hesitate to approach.
"Oh, so fancy," he teased, glancing at the boy before back at the mother, "Considering my house is right there." Chuckling, he tightened his grip on the dog, a smile passing over his lips just at the sheer presence of the female he'd grown to like.

Alex lets out a small shy laugh as Porter, the man she's grown fond of approaches them. Eyes instantly focusing on the horse sized dog standing in front of them.
"Wow, I didn't realize you could bring horses on the beach." She teases, walking over to the dog. After letting her fingers slide through its fur she'd decided to let Landon down to pet it.
A delighted giggle bubbles off his lips as he petted the animal.
"New dog?" She asks, arching a brow at him. Still keeping a playful smile on her lips.

"Horses are always welcome," he lamely teased, mentally slapping himself at the stupidity of his statement, but slowly recovering from his little hiccup of words by answering her question, "Yeah, my sister thought it'd be okay to by my brothers this thing and then expect me to care for it, so, here I am." Shrugging, he eyed the child again, gulping as he knew what was to come next.
Porter was a major family person- it was all he had, but meeting a girl who he barely knew, but clearly liked's son was a bit in new territory, but he had to do this.
Kneeling down beside his dog and the kid, he began to speak, daring to show some courage. "Landon, right? You're mommy talks about you a lot." Pausing, he glanced at Alex swiftly before continuing, "I'm Porter and this is Duke." Smiling, he wasn't too sure what else to say, so he waited for a response before going on.

"Aw how very sweet of you to take care of him." She says softly, another thing that drew her to Porter. She knew right away, he'd get along with Landon just fine.
Chocolate eyes follow as he kneels down beside Landon. Her heart warming as she listens to the way he talked to her little boy.
Landon's eyes looked over to Porter, a smile perking up his chubby cheeks. "I like your dog." He says shyly, his little fingers curling in the dogs fur. Alex could tell instantly that they would be just fine together, usually if Landon didn't like someone he'd show it.
"So how about Porter and Duke hang out with us for a little bit?" She asks, watching as Landon nods excitedly. "I mean if you want to." She adds, offering a soft smile to Porter.

"He likes you too," Porter slipped in before Duke fell into a mess of fur on the ground, panting and resting by his feet. Shaking his head at the lazy dog, he rose and met Alex's gaze, studying her as she spoke, his grip tight on the leash as he tumbled over his words.
"Of course I love you- I mean, love to. I'd love to hang out." Great job, kid. Totally cool.
Shaking his head, he pressed his palm to his forehead, groaning at himself. What an idiot.
He didn't bother trying to explain the slip up- because he clearly hadn't meant to say it. He barely knew her.
Just a slip of the tongue- he hoped.

Alex arched a brow at Porters slip, her cheeks flushing slightly. No one had given her this feeling since Chris, and she loved it. "I'm sure you do love me." She teases with a wink, watching as the dog collapsed to the ground. "Well Landon wanted to build a sandcastle but I'm not much of a builder. Help?" She asks, a slight playful desperation in her voice.
"Sandcastle." Landon repeated, almost in a command.

"Oh, so much," Porter teased, dragging out his embarrassment before cutting his game short to glance at the two, taking a moment to truly look at them. Landon looked quite a lot like Alex, but some things were off, and he knew that had to be the father's characteristics.
Nibbling on his lip, he nodded swiftly, glaring at the dog for a swift second, he gave them an easy answer, "As long as Duke doesn't get any ideas and start running off again, I'm done for anything," kneeling down again, he smirked at the boy, praising, "Especially sandcastles. I'm a great architect."

Alex reached out for Landon's hand, not surprised when he quickly grabbed hers. She slightly noticed Porter looking at the two of them, that alone caused her cheeks to flush. "Come on let's find a good spot." She says softly to the boy.
"You're an architect and a dog watcher. Double threat?" She teases, her light laugh filling the air around them.

Snatching up the leash while he was crouched down, Porter tugged the dog onto its feet and urged him forward, following behind Alex all too willingly. A smirk on his lips, he replies eagerly, "Triple threat- I have a twin." Did it make much sense? Not at all. Did he care? Nope. Gazing beyond the back of her head, he pointed with his friend hand, calling out, "How about over there?"
It wasn't too close to the water, so the castle wouldn't get washed away, but it also wasn't extremely far out. Just perfect.

Alex let her bare feet dent the sand as they hunted for a place, Landon kept his gaze on the large dog. Obviously completely fascinated by it. "Ah yes the twin, you're like unstoppable." She laughs glancing over her shoulder at him.
Stopping only when he'd pointed to a spot. It was perfect. Letting Landon down he ran to the spot, plopping down in the sand once he reached it.
His small giggle filling the air as she walked up to him. "Where do we start?" She asks, turning to Porter and giving him a sweet smile.

"So unstoppable," he murmured, thinking back to his house where Porsha was sat with his younger twin brothers Jai and Jan. How odd was it that there were two pairs of twins under one house hold? Probably very.
Snapping back to reality once they got to the spot he had pointed out, Porter got to his knees, beside Duke and Landon, and began to explain, "First you'll need a base, smooth down the sand." Taking the palm of his hand, he demonstrated, dragging it over they grainy surface and flattening it.

Alex kneeled with Porter, being at Landon's height. The round faced boy hanging close to Porter, understandably he really didn't have a father figure. A smile light up Alex's face, her hand mimicking Porter's action
The grainy sand grazing her fingers, the beach was always lovely. One pair of small hands began furiously rubbing at the sand, stirring it up instead of smoothing it. "No baby, like this." She corrects, moving his hands softly over the sand.
A large smile played on Landon's face as he looked to Porter. "Next?" He asks, cocking his head to the side.

A roar of laughter brushed over Porter's lips as the little boy attacked the sand, sending the dog to make a whine of confusion and tilt his massive head. Alex was quick to fix her son's mistake, but the man still bubbled with a light chuckle. He wasn't laughing at him, but simply elated over how vigorous his actions were.
Landon was a determined kid.
Coming back to reality, he glanced at Alex before speaking to the boy, "Well, we have to decide what shape you want to make it. Sqaure and boxy or circular and round?" His head fell to the side just as the hound's had, eyes full of passion.

Porters laugh causing Landon to giggle, though he probably had no idea what he was laughing at. Alex say smiling at both of them, eyes glowing with joy. She couldn't help but have the most respect for Porter, the was he was with Landon already made her heart melt.
"Round." The boy squealed, bringing Alex back to the beach. "Round it is." She assures Landon.
