There he stood, once tall and confident, now broken and covered in the blood of his baby sister. He'd watched his life fall apart literally right before his eyes, his wife had run off with another man. He'd been missing months, did she even care? He knew she would have never stayed, they never did. Adalyn had come to find him a few days ago, her pleads for him to come back with her, make their grand reappearance. She hadn't seen Trigger moved on, she lived in peaceful ignorance that she'd return and all would be well. He on the other hand observed it all, nothing he could do but watch and suffer in silence. She pestered and pestered, he just couldn't take it. One night he snapped.
She was packing her bags, ready for them to head back and resume their lives. Her voice filling his head words like 'happiness' and 'family' bouncing around like ping pong balls. "Enough!" He growled at her, his hands gripping her shoulders in an tight lock. "We don't get a happy ending Adalyn we never did." His words ice cold as he slipped his blade from his belt with one hand, keeping her still with his other. "This is for your own good." He whispers, the knife jamming into her chest. The life draining from her once bright eyes, her skin froze and paled almost instantly. He ripped out the knife and wiped the blood on his cream colored shirt. Running a hand through his messed blonde hair he quickly retrieved his bag and left the small cottage they'd been staying in.
"We don't get a happy ending, we never did." He whispers as he yanked back to present day. The people of four buzzing around him as he sits at the train station. Where does he go? He has no one, no wife no kids. No one. He looked like a hot tattered mess. His hair messed and almost brown from the dirt, his skin torn and bruised from fending for himself. To the naked eye he was just physically a mess, inside he was 100 levels of messed up. A woman sat on the bench next to him, he had to calmly remind himself not to make eye contact. He wanted no one to notice him, yet there she was less than two feet away.

Back in action
War was a hard business for everyone. Everyone lost and suffered when people clashed against each other in hate. Felicity knew she'd lost no more than anyone else, even less than some that had lost everything, and yet, she felt as though she'd lost it all. She'd lost herself and everything she held dear. Her husband had been a solider, fighting for District Thirteen. He said he wanted to give her and their unborn child a better life, free from the cruelty of the Capitol. He'd been brutally cut down in battle only a few months ago. She'd spiraled downward in a depression and then last month, she'd miscarried their child. To top it off, the Capitol burned down the home they had shared together in Four. She had nothing left of their life together now. It was as if they'd never even been married. As if he'd never even existed and the past three years of her young life had been but a dream.
She stood now on the platform of the train, sun shinning through her deep auburn hair, bringing out the blazing strawberry red highlights hidden within. Her white sundress blew loosely around her thighs, creating an overall look of innocence about her. She was waiting on a train to take her back to her home district of 11. People hurried around her and she glanced around, trying to find a place to sit. She was still recovering for the miscarriage and she found herself getting exhausted often. She found a bench and took a seat before even looking at the man that sat beside her. When she did, her sapphire blue eyes widened slightly. She was a nurse and she couldn't quite pass up the urge to ask him if he needed help.
"Excuse me," She breathed out in her soft voice. It wasn't necessarily timid, just airy with an almost musical quality to the way her words rose and fell. "Are you all right?" Her head cocked to the side, shoulder-length auburn hair falling across her porcelain and bare shoulders. made by ∆ ashycat of adoxography

James kept his once full of light eyes glued to the ground, the woman's voice barely registering as he kept his hands fisted in his pocket. How dare she ask that, his eyes narrowed at he looked to her for the first time. His expression softened as he took in her appearance. She was perfectly innocent, no need for him to snap at her.
"That's a loaded question darling." He said in a raspy strained voice, it'd been the first time he spoke since Adalyn. His face falling a sad and pained expression as he adds "but no, I'm not alright."
He say straight up coughing off what he'd just said, he let his guard down for a split second. "Not like you can fix me." He snaps, scooting away from the girl.

Back in action
Felicity listened to his response, her head tilting the other way for a moment as her sapphire eyes took in the conflicting storm of emotions that crossed his face. She smiled, almost knowingly and shrugged her delicate shoulders. "You never know what the stranger you meet on the road may be capable of. Who knows, I could be just what you need." She leaned forward, a teasing smile on her lips. She leaned back again and glanced him over from the corner of her eyes.
"The war has cost all of us a lot. Some more than others." Her soft voice sounded again and she reached out, gentle hand landing against his knee in a soft and comforting pat. "My name is Felicity, I'm a nurse, and I lost my husband, home, and child. Your turn." She sang softly, encouraging him to spill his story by sharing a bit of her own. She kept her blue eyes glued onto him while her mind wandered far away, back to the husband and child she'd lost. Back to everything she'd lost, actually. Her job was all she really had now, helping people, nursing them along. It soothed her and she loved making people feel better. She loved helping people.

James felt himself tense at her very touch, the last person that touched him was laying dead in some cottage in district twelve. What had he lost? Was she serious? He'd literally lost everything. His wife, kids, friends, sister, job, home. He had nothing, nothing to gain nothing to lose. A hearty sigh flew off his lips as he turned to face the woman. "I'm James, and I've literally lost everything sweetheart. And trust me you're not what I need, nor am I what you need. You seem like a sweet girl, I'm sorry about your husband and baby, I really am.." His voice trailed off, maybe they weren't so different, aside from the fact that he just killed his sister.
Shaking his head he tries to rid himself of that awful memory, of all his awful memories. "My wife left me, it took her three months to forget me. Three months, compared to the years we were together. I don't understand how that is even possible?" He asks, his face showing all his emotion cards. Broken, sad, alone, and afraid. "My kids are God knows where, and my sister..." His words trail off, face falling almost as quick as the tears from his lifeless eyes.
"I mean I didn't leave on purpose, I tried for her. I got nothing in return.. I just want to forget her and everything that has ever happened with us. Aside from my two amazing kids." He adds looking to the woman feeling extremely bad that he dumped this all on her. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't be bothering you with my mess of a life." His tone sincere and weak. He was but a ghost of the man he use to be, he use to be confident, sexy, charming, but Jewel stripped him of it all. She broke him.

Back in Action Felicity laughed softly, the tinkling and musical sound almost something sad. Everything about her in fact was that way, soft, musical, innocent, all seen through a filter of sadness. She'd not only experienced her own loss and sadness but she'd sat inside countless hospital rooms filled with the same sadness and loss. She was a beautiful but sad creature and yet, somehow she managed to be cheerful, trying to help those around her. And right now, James was at the foremost of those people. She could tell he needed... something. "No, you are not what I need," came the reply in a soft sigh, "But I know what you need." She murmured once he'd explained his life. She tilted her head up at him, giving him a comforting smile. Her hand moved from his knee to his hand, taking it in her small and delicate one with a gentle squeeze.
"You should come with me. I have something that could do that. Fix how you feel. I told you I was a nurse and I've done it for a lot of people from the war. I could make you glad she left or I could make you feel completely indifferent about her. It's a very common practice, actually. A treatment for depression." She said, standing up and dropping his hand. "We'd have to do it now though. I'm supposed to be returning back to Eleven. And you'll have to come with me for at least a week to make sure there are no other side effects. Usually you'd stay in the hospital here for a week but since I'm leaving, if you want to do this, we have to go now." She explained in a rush. Her train was supposed to be arriving soon but for some reason she just couldn't walk away from him. She needed to help him and she knew that she could. She turned and started to glide away, white sundress blowing in the wind. She paused, glancing over her shoulder, auburn hair brushing across her back.
"Are you coming?"

James felt a strange comfort when her delicate hand touched his, he didn't hesitate to stand with her. A treatment to cure him of Jewel, to return him to the man he once was? That sounded too good to be true, and staying with her for a week didn't sound too bad either. She was beautiful if he hadn't been seeing her through heartbroken eyes.
"Yes please, I need this." He calls after her, a few large steps brought him right to her. His large hand finding hers to make sure this wasn't some dream where he'd wake up horribly upset. "Thank you." He said to her before whispering to himself "This is my happy ending."

Back in Action Felicity smiled at him, glad that he was deciding to be happy. She knew the miracle of medicine could fix his broken heart. He could move on and be happy, live a different life with his children and she could help someone who reminded her so much of herself. Broken, sad, and lost. She took his hand without hesitation and set off, trusting him to stay beside her. She lead him back through the district and to the medical center, walking straight past the main doors to the back of the building where a dark door stood with a keypad on the side. Felicity paused there and dug through the bag slung over her shoulder, pulling out a pass card and sliding it quickly. The thick metal door hissed and then popped open. She stopped for a moment, glancing at him with a warm smile. "Trust me, okay?"
Felicity led him inside to a dark room. It was completely empty except for a door at the other end of the room with a single light there. She led him through that door and into a room as sterile white as white could be. There was nothing in the room except a cushioned white chair facing a large white screen and behind the chair was a white desk. Felicity led James to the chair and smiled. "Sit down." She dropped his warm hand then and turned to the desk. She touched the surface of the desk which turned out to be a screen. She swiped her pass card again, typed in a password, and then began typing furiously. After a long moment, she opened the drawer of the metal desk and pulled out a pre-preped syringe of white and milky liquid. She walked back to James, now sitting in the chair and held the syringe up. "This is the answer to your problems. It's going to put your body to sleep while accessing your mind. Then images will begin flashing on that screen. All you have to do is watch." She smiled, waiting for him to agree.

Trust her? Okay he could do that, couldn't he? The last woman he trust hurt him beyond repair or so he thought. He walked in silence with her through the districts, his eyes staying on the ground he just let her lead him. His gaze only moved once they came to the building. Everyone smiled at her and seemed to know her, she must have been important. She was to James already, she held the key to his happiness.
A dark door opened to a bright white room, his eyes took a second to adjust before he noticed the white chair that was obviously meant for him. Her hand left his feeling empty, and alone. Quickly he took a seat, the big screen in front of him. All his thoughts and memories on the screen? She'd see all the awful things he'd done. The multiple people he'd killed. Jewel. "Erm, all my memories? There are some pretty bad ones." He murmurs, slightly embarrassed. "But I'm ready for it. Please erase her from my memories." He adds, his voice laced with need. He needed to be happy.

Back in Action Felicity smiled gently at James, her hand reaching down to pat his larger one gently, trying to reassure him. "Don't worry, I won't see any of them. I'll be facing the other way, watching your vitals to make sure you aren't getting stressed or anything." She raised the syringe, uncapped it, and lined the thin needle up against his arm. "Now, one, two-" she plunged the needle in gently but firmly, pushing the milky liquid into his vein, "-three." Felicity took the needle away, capped in, and placed it back inside the desk.
She returned to James and placed two monitors on either side of his temple. "Now, look at the screen, please." She said softly, giving him one last smile before she returned to the computer desk. Her back to the screen now, she hit the start sequence, initiating the machine. Images and memories from James's subconscious began flashing rapidly across the screen, almost too fast to even make out the scenes, not that Felicity could see them anyway. She focused all her attention on the computer in front of her, watching James's vitals carefully. She couldn't say why but she desperately wanted to help him.

James was relieved that she wouldn't see any of his memories, the last thing he needed was another enemy. He sat very still as the needle pokes into his vein, not even flinching since he'd been through a much worse pain. The liquid ran warm through his veins, his body instantly relaxing as he sunk back in the white leather chair. Eyes focused on the screen lazily, memories and thoughts flashing by at the speed of light, the same one a few times only somethings were different. Jewel and him laughing, then him crying and Jewel not caring. The memories of Jewel slowly turned from happy to neglectful and unwanted.
Only the memories of her though, Alina and Cas still his number one loves. His love for Jewel was gone. Erased, nothingness was all he felt towards her. He wasn't sad, or upset that they had split, he just didn't care. It was as if she never happened to him.
The screens by him went black after about an hour. He felt fine, happy. He was finally at peace. "Are we done Felicity?" He calls out to the woman he can feel standing behind him. He stands slowly careful not to knock anything over, it had worked he felt nothing for her. A large grin appeared on his face as he looks over at the woman. A few strides and he'd have her in a huge grateful hug. "Thank you so much." He whispers, his voice filled with his old self.

Back in Action Felicity began shutting all the systems down, nodding at his question although he couldn't see her. "Yup, all done. All memories of your ex should be wiped." She said happily, turning away from the desk and back towards him. He was standing in front of her before she's even turned all the way around. She was a short woman, delicate but curvy, and James dwarfed her. His muscular arms enveloped her tightly, giving her a warm hug. Despite herself, she felt a warmth spread through her body and she returned the hug with a warm smile, cheeks blushing red.
"I was only trying to help. You deserve to be happy, James. Now, we should leave. My pass card should be expiring at any time. And the train to Eleven should be here. Let's go!" She said happily, taking his large hand in hers and leading him back out the door and to the train station.

James felt his cheeks flush as she grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the room. The door shut rather loudly behind them, but he couldn't be phased by it. His face painted with happiness, his eyes glowing as they use to. She really did save him, she was what he needed before he even knew he needed her. Her words playing in his head 'you deserve to be happy'. Though he didn't believe it at least someone did.
One thought crossed his mind, his gaze flicked down to his hand. A simple gold band wrapped around his finger, almost weighing him down. Taking Felicity's hand he placed it in the crease of his arm so she could still toe him along. Quickly he yanked off the ring and examined it for a moment. Inside were the words 'forever and always.' A scoff echoed off his lips as he flicked the ring as far as it would go. "That actually felt amazing, I don't know why I had that awful thing on anyways." He says softly to the woman next to him, before asking "So I get to stay with you a week?" He tried to keep his tone from sounding too excited.

Back in Action Felicity smiled at him, glad to see the treatment had been such a success. She'd only seen it fail once but that one time had been an awful result. She hoped to never see it again. It was one of the reasons she was so excited to be transferring back to her home of Eleven. Even though she was glad she could help people in this way, the mind treatment was far less common in the quiet little orchard district that she loved so much. She walked with James back to the train station, pausing to watch as he flung away him wedding ring.
"You have to stay with me." She said, tone taking on a playfully stern quality as she continued, "And it won't be all fun and games, mister. I'll have to check your vitals twice daily and draw blood every day to run tests. Once I can be sure that you are healthy, you'll be able to leave." She said, reassuring him with a warm smile, small hand squeezing his gently. The train came roaring up just about then and Felicity smiled up at him. "Have you ever been to Eleven?" She asked curiously, head tilting to the side in that innocent way of hers. She was making small talk, knowing that actually boarding the train would take quite some time, she was in no rush at all. Might as well get to know the man she'd offered to help on the offhand. He'd just looked so heartbroken, he reminded her of herself.

James couldn't help but let a smile creep on to his lips, he has to stay with her. Staying with a beautiful woman was definitely not something he could see going bad, she was already making him feel better. "Oh it won't be? Well you've never stayed with me, I can make anything fun baby." He whispers, his tone flirty as he gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
His bright grey eyes finding her as he let himself be carefree for a moment. "What if I don't want to leave? Or what if you don't want me to leave?" He asks, his tone returning to playful before he answered her question. "I've been through eleven, never really stopped to check the view." He'd always meant to go there, but never really got the chance.
The throngs of people crowded the train station, he knew this would take a while. His hand still clung to hers, for some reason he couldn't let go. He felt as if he did it would undo everything they'd just done, he didn't want to let go, of her at least. "You're gonna be okay you know, I know things look rough now but you'll be okay. I owe you, so if you need me to I can take care of you." He says softly, his tone genuine and sweet.
