This wasn't how it was meant to go down. He wasn't supposed to be here, wasted beyond belief, drowning out the misery of it all with liquor. Wasn't he supposed to be better this? The good sibling, hated by his family for all he did right? That wasn't him now. He'd become a regrettable mess. From ruining Adriana's life to becoming his sister's miserable keeper, Atlas had turned into something of a wreck. Alcohol was his only friend, he'd lost the privilege to call Bliss or any other being that name. He was utterly alone besides his glass and his pregnant sibling who could barely stand being around him for all he'd done. Once upon a time he was the good guy. Taking in a girl who was lost in the Capitol, saving the lives of said girl and his little sister, giving up the use of his legs for weeks and sustaining injuries to his brain for their safety, pulling the girl from the grips of death on several occasions after that, and just in general helping in any sense he could. Somewhere along the lines he just lost himself. Be it when he beat the man who'd knocked up his underage sibling senseless, or when he stole the innocence of a girl he was sure he once loved- he wasn't the same. Atlas spent his days running errands for Aaliyah, his evenings cleaning up the house she refused to leave since Tyler passed, and his evenings in bars. They been staying in Ten, his sister was convinced this was the best place to be so she could keep her baby's dad's soul alive. He hated it here, honestly. Between the sour memories of ruining anything good he had, and the every present reminders that he was no better than the dirt on the ground, he couldn't stand walking around the streets sober. He'd lost touch with all the good in his heart, Atlas was just a broken toy. The blonde man had been lounging in one of his more frequent bars, minding his own business when a crude voice tore through his blissful silence. It was some nasty remark referring to someone who sounded all too familiar. Surely they weren't chatting about the girl they were, they're were plenty girls of her stature, but it made him snap. No one would talk about Adriana that way, whether it was actually her they were gossiping about or not. Twirling his six or seventh glass of scotch between the tips of his fingers, Atlas cocked his head in the direction of the man who was so eagerly giving details about a girl he'd seen walking around the market, degrading her. That was something he just couldn't let fly, now could he? No matter if she despised him or not, he'd fight for her honor. Guess he wasn't all bad. The look in his eyes was stone cold, frostbitten with hate and shaded with disgust. Taking one final sip from his bitter drink, the tall man stood slowly and slipped down the few feet it was to the man who just kept yapping on. Tapping his shoulder to catch his attention, Atlas flashed him a wicked grin before taking the half full cup and smashing it against the back of the man's skull full force. This caused an uproar throughout the bar. A mess of banter was tossed between the crowd, some chanting for the brute he'd challenged while others cheered from him. Punches were landed on both sides, leaving each of them with bloody faces and busted facial features. So far, Atlas wasn't winning. With his legs still wonky and being intoxicated and all, but he didn't give up. He just kept fighting, waiting for someone to try to break it up.

Bliss didn't think she'd ever been to district 10, and if she had she couldn't remember it for the life of her. So, she'd decided that she may as well come and spend a day or so in 10 while her life was quiet and see what it had to offer. She'd realised after only half a day that, really, it had nothing. But by the time she'd realised how boring the district was it was too late to go home- she didn't really fancy heading all the way back to the Capitol by herself at night, so instead she'd decided to check out the closest bar they had just to pass some of the evening. She probably wouldn't end up drinking much, possibly nothing, she'd been a lot more sensible with alcohol recently and could hardly remember the last time she'd actually got drunk.
So, she reached out to the door handle, one hand still tucked deeply into her jacket pocket and opened the door. Bad decision. Before the door had even closed again she had been pushed by someone rushing over to the chanting crowd which, she assumed, was watching a fight of some kind. So what did Bliss do? She pushed through the drunken circle to get a better look at what was going on, of course. Who she saw was pretty unexpected. She hadn't seen him Atlas in so long, she regretted it, but this wasn't how she'd planned to next to see him. "Atlas!" She cried through the crowd involuntarily, not wanting too see him get too hurt if she could help it.

Punch after punch, kick after kick- he just couldn't stop. His blood boiled, vision blurred by nothing but red. He couldn't take it anymore. The hateful glares, the whispered groans, the unspoken truth- he knew he was a mistake, and he was sick of it. Why did he even try anymore? He'd grown up as the good guy, the Career with the heart, the man with too much love- now what was he? The District's drunk, who was remarkably turning the tides in this fight and managed to make the brute he'd taken on stumble back some. With the sudden advantage, he lunged forward, knocking him to the ground- where he proceeded to bash his face in whilst muttering profanity after profanity and cursing this man's very existence. Who did he think he was to degrade a woman like that? It didn't matter if it was actually Adriana they were talking about, it was flat out wrong to speak about a female that way. Girls weren't toys, a slab of meat they could toss on the grill- and Atlas wasn't going to just let this man get off thinking he could. With another blow to the nose, the blonde leaned down, his breath coated with liquor as he puffed out against the whimpering man, "Be wise with your words." He shoved the man back down, just in time to hear a female screech his name. Naturally, his first instinct was to believe it was his little blonde beauty he'd done wrong, but as his head swiveled upwards, he was met the worried eyes of the girl he used to know as a best friend. Were they even that? Neither had made an effort to contact each other after they last saw each other at the hospital, but he didn't think about that. About anything, actually. He was intoxicated beyond belief and it showed. So, as nonchalantly as he could, Atlas pushed himself off of the male and found his footing. Dragging his bloodied hand over his crimson stained mouth, his injuries weren't nearly as bad as he thought. His face didn't radiate with pain, no, he just had a busted lip and a burning around his eye signaling there'd be a bruise in no time. If anything, he most likely had a bruised rib or two from the jabs the guy had taken at his gut. As his damp and aching hand wiped at his mouth, his gaze cast around the crowd threateningly before dropping to the unconscious man on the floor. He spat at the ground, disgusted by it all. It wasn't until he turned his attention to the blonde girl who was clearly frazzled that he snapped out of attack mode and grinned from ear to ear. The blood on his lips made him look insane, painting his teeth- and the crazed look in his eyes didn't help. "Blissy, my Bliss," he rambled on, stepping forward with a slight limp. In a lower whisper, he set his hand against the side of his mouth as if he was sharing a secret, his drunken eyes struggling to focus on her, "We should probably get out of her before the Hulk over there wakes up." He raised his hands innocently, pouting at the blood like a child would, his voice still low as he mumbled, "I think I need a bath." Atlas giggled. The limber man who'd just tackled a brick wall of a man and won- giggled. Liquor had strange effects on this man. He went from killer to puppy in a matter of seconds. Like magic.

Any chance of a calm, boring district 10 evening had been ripped away from Bliss' grip, and in a way, she didn't care at all. Her life had been getting pretty boring recently, and she saw a little bar fight between an old friend and a stranger a good way to entertain herself. At least Atlas hadn't been hurt too badly, and as for the other man- well, only time would tell.
She tour her eyes away from her old friend who was now stained and blotted with blood, she couldn't tell what was his blood and what was the other mans, and instead she turned her green eyes on the group that had gather around the fight, now silently telling them to disperse. With everything she'd done and been through she'd learnt how to radiate authority when she needed too, and this seemed like one of those times. They began to move away, going back to their drinks and pointless conversations and Bliss turned her attention back to Atlas, who was grinning like a little child. She didn't smile at him, but her face softened, and she was about to reach out for his hand when she remembered the blood and instead slapped her hand on his shoulder "I think you do too. Come on, we're leaving now" She told him, leading him towards the door.

"Mmm," came his purred response, body eagerly pressing into the warmth of her hand. When was the last time he had that, really? The weight of a reassuring palm against his flesh? Of course there was the light touches from his sister- a calm palm cupping his cheek or understanding hug, even the gentle pass of her baby girl into his arms, but an actual, firm reminder that someone was there looking out for him? It must have been ages. Had he been comforted since his incident with Adriana? Was there anyone there to cover his back in a time of weakness? He didn't think so, didn't remember anyone sticking there neck out for him.
But that's just how it worked with Atlas, wasn't it?
He'd jump under falling chandeliers, battle brute mutts, save from the messy fate of speeding cars, and he'd even become a father to a kid that was never his, but no matter how much of his heart he handed out to others, there was never an ounce of kindness returned. Atlas didn't blame anyone for that, of course. It just seemed it was his luck. He was dealt the bad hand of cards, and he was handling it the best way he could- which just happened to be with hiding from his little sister at bars and preceding to bash people's faces in.
Classy, eh?
With his eyes drooping closed from a mix of intoxication and exertion, Atlas leaned into his old pal- not being mindful of the fact that he was still coated head to toe in splatters of blood. Turning his head ever so slightly so he could whisper in her ear, still under the pretense that everything they did was a secret, he murmured, "Aaliyah is at home with the baby, and I don't think they should see me like this. Do you- do you have a room?"
Even in this tipsy state he still managed to play the part of the good guy. Always looking out for others, but never himself.

God, Bliss had forgotten what an odd person Atlas really was- and it was even worse when he was drunk. This little encounter was causing all kinds of old memories to come flooding back to her, thinking back to all the good times back in one that they’d had together. Nights out and about in the district where Bliss didn’t need to drink to laugh her ass off, all she needed to do was to get Atlas to drink a bit too much then, boom, fast fun. Of course, this wasn’t as funny as the old times had been, as Bliss had changed a lot and Atlas was also splattered with his and someone else's blood, and, from experience, being soaked in blood tended to take some banter away from the situation. As for ‘the baby’, Bliss was completely baffled. She hadn’t even known Aaliyah had been seeing anyone, let alone was pregnant, but that just highlighted again how bad a friend she’d recently. Sighing lightly she gave Atlas’ shoulder a quick squeeze before turning him around and beginning to lead him out of the bar- she decided it was probably better for him to get out before the guy he’d beaten up woke up and decided he was ready for round two. “I’ll get you sorted out, don’t worry” Bliss told him in reply to his question, even though it was a bit of a lie. The blonde was staying in the closest thing they had to a hotel here, so there was only one room she actually had, but she’d do her best to make sure he had somewhere to stay for the night, even if that meant she was sleeping on the floor, which was seeming much more likely with every passing second. Oh well, he was an old friend. ______________________________________________________coded by nahara46 of gs, adox and swa

Unsteady on his feet from a mix of blood loss and a dense amount of liquor in the blood he did have, Atlas depended heavily on Bliss keeping him upright, but was also wary on putting too much weight on her. He didn’t need them both toppling over, because there was a very large chance that he won’t get back up. Letting her lead, he kept his hand firm on her shoulder and leaned on her side gingerly, focusing more on moving in the right direction than what she’d actually said, but it gradually sank in. “Good, good,” he murmured, not putting too much effort in really getting the words out since his lips were inches from her ear, hovering just over it as he rested his head against hers in an attempt to ease the blur clouding his vision.
The hand not clutching Bliss for dear life wandered over his torso and gingerly pressed against the more pained parts of his face, just to get a feel for the damage even if all that registered was just, “Oh no, what am I going to wear? I won’t fit in your clothes Bliss, and I don’t want to be bloody all night.” Leaning back some to pout at her seemed like an optimal thing to do, but when he nearly stumbled over his own feet, he quickly leaned back in and supported himself against her sturdy frame. With a flustered sigh, he felt more and more like an incompetent child with every step they took. Maybe his parents were right when they tossed him out, all he did was screw up- and he did that quite often more so recently than not.
Huffing out a annoyed breath against the side of her face- and he was certain that it must have reeked, and instantly regretted it- he mumbled, “Mm, maybe I need a toothbrush too.”

When his messy clothes got brought up Bliss honestly had to hold down a groan of annoyance. She didn't really mind cleaning his clothes for him, as he was obviously in no fit state to do it himself, it was just that she actually had to do some work at an obscure hour of the night, and she wasn't to into the thought of that. Still, what had to be done had to be done. "Well, we'll just have to tuck you up nice and tightly and i'll wash your clothes while you're sleeping, okay?" She asked, more a rhetorical question or statement then an actual question. She looked over at him, his face was a blood coated mess of soft emotions- drunk relaxation, sleepy-ness, and confusion. "I don't have clothes that will fit you while you sleep, so we'll just wrap you in a sheet or something" She added before turning to look back at the direction they were going in to make sure nothing was there to some how injure them. She rolled her eyes at his toothbrush comment, shaking her head slightly. Clean clothes she could understand, but a toothbrush? Really? That was a bit ridiculous to be thinking of at a time like this, but she would never know what was going on in his weird little mind. Then he breathed right against her face and she did get where he was coming from. She wrinkled up her nose and moved her face away from his slightly, just so her nose was further away from her mouth. Still, there was no way she was letting him use her toothbrush as well. “I think you can deal with a little bad breath in the morning. Sharing my toothbrush is where my kindness stops- just keep your mouth away from my nose” She told him, a hint of a jokey tone to her voice, though she meant every word. ______________________________________________________coded by nahara46 of gs, adox and swa

"Hmm," he mumbled into the air between them, a chuckle glistening off of his curled lips as he drunkenly teases, "You just want to see me naked, don't you, Blissy?" It was nothing more than a mindless joke, no hint of lust or promiscuity to it. A taunt between old friends that he'd forget by morning. He wouldn't end up stripped down anyhow, it wasn't like his boxers were slathered in blood like the rest of him. A quick shower would rinse the crimson paint right off his heated flesh, a swipe of toothpaste against his finger would suffice as a good enough toothbrush, and more likely than not he'd end up curled on the floor in a bundle of blankets- because really, is Atlas ever willing to take anything from anyone? It's Bliss' room, and she's already doing enough for him, he's not going to steal her bed. No way.
Stumbling over his own feet, and fumbling with his grip on his friend, Atlas did his best to stay coherent, to make the mess of his state less blurry. He couldn't think straight, but that didn't stop him from trying. His mind wandered, batting back and forth through his thoughts. Aaliyah crossed his mind, and he worried about her. About what she'd think of him now. The hero she'd painted him as crumbling under the weight of it all, intoxicated beyond belief and barely able to even form a sentence that make any form of sense. He'd gone from brawn to bum in an instant, all because Adriana decided he wasn't good enough. But that was that, no going back on the past, so why bother worrying? For a moment he contemplated telling Bliss to just take him home, that she didn't need to help him- not when he was like this. Not after so long of being absent from each other's lives. He wanted to go make sure his little sister was safe, that the baby was okay, and didn't want to keep his friend on her toes all night. She deserved better than that, probably came here for a break from it all and now look- it was all a mess.
But he didn't, couldn't find the words.
Instead, he looked offended, sad even as he spoke, "Oh no, Bliss. I would never use your toothbrush. Ew." Yeah, liquor really wasn't his friend.

Bliss breathed out a laugh, shaking her head slightly as she slapped Atlas on the chest, in a friendly way, of course. "Yeah, of course i do" She replied, humouring her drunk, sad friend. She may as well, there was no point in trying to melt his plastic happiness when she could just stretch it out for a little longer. Life must have been hard for him recently, living so far from everything he knew and with a small child he was apparently helping to look after. Plus, they both knew that Atlas wouldn't end up completely naked- she did not want to see that, nor did she want to be the person washing his underwear. He could do that himself if he wanted it done. He hit a wavy patch while they were walking, so she had to try even harder to keep him from crumbling to the floor, which was pretty difficult considering he must have been at least double the weight of her, but, miraculously, she managed it, and they carried on walking along, rounding a corner until they were on the correct street. Only 2 more minutes. She told her aching arms. She wasn't going to complain, though, how many times had Atlas helped her out when she was drunk? Probably too many times to count, and this was the least she could do for him. "I'm glad to hear that" She said, glancing up at his face and smiling when she saw the sadness in his eyes. She wished she could make him happier, and in that moment she swore she would do her best to make him happy again, no matter how long it took. ______________________________________________________coded by nahara46 of gs, adox and swa

A snicker rolled off of Atlas' lips, chest rumbling like a cat purring in satisfaction. "Knew you did, Blissy," he hummed, full of pride—full of liquid courage, "It's like, meant to happen." He was talking out of his ass, lost in a daze. He didn't mean a word of it. Bliss had never shown interest in him romantically before. There had always been a brunette on her heels or on her arm or in her bed. Meanwhile, he was busy chasing the ghost of a blonde who would never forgive him. Adrianna haunted him, but only because what he'd felt for her had been true. He loved her, and he loved Bliss, but it was different. She was his best friend, the only person who cared enough to drag his drunken self to safety.
And maybe he was blurring the two blondes together and that was what was encouraging him to be so bold in his teasing. If she reminded him of it in the morning, he'd suffocate under the weight of his embarrassment. She would never let him live it down.
His feet struggled to fall in front of one another, dragging against the cracked concrete beneath them. He had enough mind to try to carry himself, but he wasn't sure how good of a job he was doing. Atlas dwarfed the girl in both height and weight, knew that it was quite the feat for her to drag him along, but she persisted. He couldn't thank her enough for it, didn't think he would ever be able to.
"You know you're my best friend, right?" He puttered on, eyes trained on hers—trusting her to not lead him into any poles or walls. If he fell, he wasn't sure he'd be getting back up any time soon. "Like, my bestest friend," he continued, smiling to himself as he recalled all the memories they shared. It was her. Always her.
No one else cared enough to make such an imprint on him.
