Emmy took the banana slice happily and shoved it in her mouth. "Where's 'Lena?" Emmy asked. She could never say Elena's name right.
"She's napping. She should be back soon," Damion said. He finished cooking the chicken and put it on a plate to start cutting it up.

Damion just winked at Jen, still smirking as he went back to cooking. "Correction, I'm cooking chicken and fruit salad. Ethan here is just eating the leftover ingredients," he said with a laugh.
"Mommy's home!" Damion heard behind him with the thumping of feet coming down the stairs accompanying the high pitched voice. Emmy ran over to Jen and hugged her leg. "I'm hungry," she said when she realized that Damion was cooking.

Damion was cooking and listening to Ethan. He wasn't much of a chef, but he had learned to manage since he was the man of his family now. He smirked and turned to kiss Jen quickly before whispering in her ear, "I don't think I'm that little, huh?" Typical Damion. Turning everything into some sexual reference. Maybe that's why he and Jason were best friends.

Damion smiled, then took Ethan from Jen. "Sure," he said. He knew that Ethan "helping" would really just be him walking around the kitchen and taste testing once the food was actually done, but it was still fun.

Damion sighed. Was that even a good thing? Sure, every father's dream was for their son to follow in their footsteps, except Damion didn't want Ethan to be like him. He wanted him to be better. But he smiled anyways, not wanting to disappoint his son. "I should get cooking. It's almost dinner time."

Damion stood up and put a hand on Ethan's back. "You're alright now," he said. "It was just a dream." It was interesting to Damion that Ethan's nightmares were so simple, yet still so terrifying to the little one. Damion's nightmares consisted of much more twisted things, and he was usually perfectly fine after waking up.

Damion turned to see Ethan. "What was it about?" he asked him. Ethan was always having nightmares, and it was turning into a pretty serious concern for them. Damion figured that they would go away eventually, but he was worried about what would happen if they didn't.

"Or they could spend their entire lift trying to be just like their parents," Damion said quietly. That was how Damion grew up, and he couldn't stand to see Elena do the same thing. He didn't understand how Jennifer wasn't agreeing with him.

"I'm not going to tell a five-year-old child that her parents are murderers, Jen," Damion said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. To him, it was. "We'll wait until she's old enough to understand it all." Damion hoped that Jen wouldn't fight him on it, but they tended to fight a lot when it came to things like this. Damion didn't want his kids to have anything to do with fighting, but Jen was always more okay with it.

"Of course it is," Damion said sarcastically. "Until you realize that killing twenty-three people kind of makes you feel like shit. Oh and then there's the part where the President blackmails you for the rest of your life." Damion hated when people thought that because he was a Victor his life was perfect. Technically, he wasn't even a Victor anyways, but some still considered him one. It was actually a major debate on some of the television talk shows.

Damion nodded. "I know," he said. "But not yet. I don't want her growing up thinking that killing is okay. Not like I did." Running his hands through his hair, he tried to stop thinking about what it was like growing up for him. It didn't seem too bad back then, but the memories haunted him now. They would just keep playing back in his head, and he would keep thinking of all of the things he wished he could redo.

"Don't cry," Damion said. He hated when the kids would cry because he never knew how to fix it. "You're not in trouble. Just from now on it's better if you find another game to play, alright?" Damion knew that he and Jen would have to talk about this again later, which he wasn't particularly looking forward to, but it necessary nonetheless.

Damion felt his stomach turn upside down at the idea of Elena actually enjoying the idea of the Games. He knew that she just liked playing with her friends, but it still scared him. "I'm sure it was," he said. "But there are other games that you and your friends can play." Damion glanced at Jen again, obviously uncomfortable. He didn't want any of the kids having anything to do with the Games or fighting or anything like that. It was somewhat inevitable that they would enjoy that sort of thing, but Damion wanted a better life for them.

Damion sighed. "Your mom and I did play it," he said. "But not like you and your friends did today. But it's not a good game for you to be playing, okay?" It wasn't a good explanation, but none of the right words were coming together in Damion's head. He was hoping that Jen would step in and help him out because he was never very good with words anyways.

Damion glanced at Jen quickly, knowing that they were probably thinking the same thing. At least, he hoped they were. Damion walked over to the couch and sat Elena on his knee. "Elena, sweetheart," he said, sighing as he tried to think of the best thing to say. "I don't think it's a good idea for you to be playing that game." Damion knew that she was probably going to ask why, since it was something that most kids her age probably did. Hell, Damion played it when he was younger too. But he didn't know how to explain to a five year old little girl that both of her parents were murderers.
